Challenge: Keep Them Under Our Wing (Elite)

Your Greek city has a few repeatable quests which are worth doing in Elite mode as you gear up and start to improve your game play.

One of these is Keep Them Under Our Wing.

Even once you've reached level 40, playing this quest in Elite mode gives you three level 40 chests, not too bad for a 10 minute quest.

On top of that, it's a good game for practicing a few basic skills, micro-managing your villies, etc.

Open the book to discover how to crack this quest!

In this quest, you start off with 15 villagers and you are meant to protect the Advisor Hall at the very top by building guard towers (you can only build guard towers and storehouses).

There are a myriad of different ways to complete this quest, but one thing is for sure, if you don't have a plan, those Elite thugs will knock out your 15 villagers in no time at all, and make short work of any guard towers you've managed to build.

There is one small trick to this quest, and it involves making use of a smallish plateau just south of where your 15 villagers start.

If you're quick enough, you can have 6 or 7 towers built before the first enemy thugs come running at you.

I like to get a couple of villies chopping wood to the East, where there's already a storehouse, and where they are rarely touched.

I like to get about 5 villies working the first lot of rock that you get to, and then I try and get the rest tucked away on the plateau, see picture below.
Get 8 villies onto this plateau, block off with towers, mine the rock and take out the bandits.
To the top right you can see I have another storehouse mining that rock.

With towers cutting off the entrance, the villies can then mine additional rock.  The other benefit, you can actually take out the bandits, claim the chests, and then free up a heap of space for more tower building - all of them out of reach of the thugs - you can squeeze 10 towers on to here if you try hard enough..

There are more chests to the right of the map, get these at the end of the quest, 3 towers are enough

Once the quest is completed, delete the towers, and take your villies East where you'll find more bandits and chests to claim - but watch out - every now and then the thugs seem to return!

The best advisers are Apprentice Mason Philon  (quicker building) and Stalwart Lieutenant Panhsj (increases damage of your guard towers).  Rockhound Erastos in Age I is also useful for producing more rock.
